On 3 May 2012 coinciding with the London Mayoral election following resignation of a Tower Hamlets Labour councillor Weavers Ward will have a by-election.
Another Tower Hamlets by-election will be held for Spitalfields and Banglatown ward on April 19 Matt Smith is standing for the conservatives after disgraced former Labour then independent benefit fraud councillor Shelina Akhtar was barred from office.

The Former Labour Disgraced Tower Hamlets councillor Shelina Akhtar has been jailed after admitting three counts of benefit fraud.
Tower Hamlets needs honest politicians to tackle the problems and issues the people face in the community. It is time to act with a by-election.
