Budget Meeting Shocking Public Servants

As a member of the audience in the public gallery at the Tower Hamlets Budget Meeting held on Wednesday 3 March at Town hall I am shocked and appalled by the Labour Councillors reaction to sensible and poignant proposed amendments to the Budget from the Conservative party. This includes many ways to tackle the growing deficit by reducing allowances, reducing spin and reducing consultants. I am not sure what make me angrier the rudeness of the Labour councillors or their need to personally attack Council members on the other side of the bench. Do they not have any policy worthy of debate or are they just so narrow minded they think the leviathan of guttural laughter from their over expensed over advertised mouths will content the public. I am sorry no. You’ve had your time – OUT!

  1. Agreed it was horrible. Even worse is their pay. A group of Tower Hamlets taxpayers have done some very interesting work looking at how much local councilors are paid

It might shock some people to learn that the average Labour councilor in Tower Hamlets earns about £18K a year. Compare that to other parties and ask yourself is this value for money?
